As I sit here watching the fall classic, I am thankful to be a Cardinals fan. People wrote us off near the end of the regular season. We lost 7 in a row while Houston won 7. We lost our last game of the regular season. However, we reached the playoffs by winning the Central Division. In the NLDS, we swept the San Diego Padres 3-0. Then, in the NLCS, it took 7 dramatic games before we finally did away with the New York Mets. You would think that after reaching the World Series, some people would start to gain a little confidence in you. Nope. All the so called experts said the Cards didn't stand a chance against the mighty Detroit Tigers. Well, here we stand. Bottom of the 7th inning. Game 3. The series is tied at 1 apiece. The Cards are leading 4-0. Barring a complete meltdown, it looks like they are about to go ahead in the series 2-1. Will there still be doubters? Probably. But it doesn't matter. We have Albert Pujols. Jim Edmonds. Scott Rolen. Chris Carpenter. We don't need anyone else. Sure, the Tigers are a good club. Jim Leland is a heck of a manager. But we've been here before. They haven't. We have gamers. They don't. When all is said and done, look for the championship to land, not in the Motor City, but in the Land of the Arch.
